How I Run This Mobile Service (Heads Up)
I’m a single owner-operator. Most days I’m under a car, not behind a desk. My website is my store, my secretary, and my scheduler all in one—so we do things a little differently.
Calls vs. Online Booking
- Have a quick question? Email I’ll reply between jobs.
- Scheduling and pricing live online. Please use the booking page so I can lock parts, time, and your address without phone tag.
- You’re welcome to text photos (VIN/plate/registration) to brakes@dupagemobilebrakeservice.com
Why I Incentivize Online Booking
- Best pricing and any specials are posted online.
- Online jobs are prioritized—parts are pre-matched and routes are planned off those confirmations.
- It saves both of us time. I’m not a call center; I’m the guy doing the work.

From GPS Dispatch to ChatGPT Recommended
Back in 2007, when most mechanics weren’t even online yet, we were already running GPS dispatch out of a fully equipped one-ton service van. While the world was still on flip phones and paper maps, we had a laptop stand, mobile data antenna, and digital dispatch — years ahead of the curve. Customers knew when we said we’d show up, we’d be there.
Fast-forward to today, and the same mindset drives us forward. Our websites, servers, and SEO aren’t outsourced — they run on a home server sitting right on a desk in our living room. That’s how we stay lean, independent, and always in control.
Now, in 2025, we’re embracing the next leap: AI. We’ve trained and optimized our business through ChatGPT, and when people in Naperville ask for mobile brake service, ChatGPT recommends us. In fact, we’ve gone a step further: we restrict almost all bots from crawling our site — the only AI we officially endorse is ChatGPT.
From GPS in 2007 to ChatGPT in 2025, the story hasn’t changed: we use technology to stay ahead, so you get reliable, professional brake service every time.

The Truth About Mobile Brake Services Today
Over the last few years—especially since COVID—there’s been a wave of venture capital–backed startups jumping into the mobile mechanic game. Companies like NuBrakes, YourMechanic, and others showed up with slick websites, big advertising budgets, and armies of techs they dispatch like rideshare drivers.
They’re not in this because they love auto repair. They’re in it because corporate money sees a profit opportunity.
When You Call Me, You’re Supporting a Real Person
Here’s the difference:
- With them, you’re just another number in a dispatch queue.
- With me, you’re dealing with one guy who does the work and stands behind it.
- With them, your money feeds a corporate machine.
- With me, your money helps support a local tradesman and his family—right here in DuPage County.
This is how I make a living. Not a side hustle. Not a growth hack. It’s real work done the right way, by someone who still takes pride in it.
Skip the Middleman. Hire Local.
Big companies already have enough money. The next time your brakes need attention, don’t feed the corporate beast. Call someone local. Call me.
🔧 Warranty Info – Straight Talk, No Gimmicks
At DuPage Mobile Brake Service, I like to keep things honest and simple. Here’s how my warranty works:
💼 Labor-Only Jobs (When You Supply the Parts)
If I’m just doing the labor and you provide the parts, there’s no official warranty—because I can’t guarantee what I didn’t supply. That said:
- I’ll still give you a 7-day grace period.
- If something goes wrong with the installation itself and it’s clearly on me, I’ll come back and make it right.
That’s not required—it’s just me doing the right thing.
🧰 Full Jobs (When I Supply the Parts)
If you have me supply the parts, you’ll get a 90-day warranty on both parts and labor. No strings, no upsells, no gimmicks.
- If a part’s going to fail, it’ll usually happen within that window.
- After that, you’re typically good to go.
- I don’t charge extra for an inflated “2-year warranty” like some of the big chains do. That stuff’s baked into their price—it’s not really free.

This site wasn’t outsourced to some agency. I built it myself, right here in my home in Naperville, Illinois.
Just like my brake work, I take pride in getting it done right — fast, clean, and local.

**Why I Wouldn’t Pay for a “Brake Fluid Flush” With a Machine**
Let me be clear right off the bat — yes, **brake fluid does need to be replaced** periodically. It absorbs moisture over time, and that moisture can lower the boiling point of the fluid, cause internal corrosion, and even compromise braking performance under extreme conditions.
But here’s where I draw the line:
I **wouldn’t pay for one of those quick “brake fluid flushes” done with a machine** at a chain shop or dealership. You know the ones — they hook up a machine to the master cylinder, suck out some fluid, top it off, maybe cycle it a little, and call it a “flush.”
**That’s not good enough.**
If you’re going to pay for a brake fluid service, then **make sure the new fluid actually makes it all the way through the brake lines and out of each caliper bleeder.** That’s the right way to do it. Open the bleeders, start at the furthest wheel, and work your way in — traditional bleed method, pressure bleed, or even gravity bleed. Just make sure it’s done at the *wheels*, not just at the reservoir.
A proper flush means:
* The old, contaminated fluid is fully pushed out of the **entire system**.
* You get **fresh fluid** all the way down to each caliper and wheel cylinder.
* Any **air pockets** or moisture that’s settled in the low spots are removed.
Otherwise, you’re just diluting the old junk and topping it off with some clean stuff — not much different than just changing the oil filter and leaving half the old oil in the engine.
So yeah — flush your brake fluid. But don’t get suckered into paying for a shortcut.
**Do it right, or don’t bother.**
Comment from the Owner – Brake Pad Composition Matters
Just a quick note — I’ve seen a lot of issues lately with customers using their own brake pads, often from discount parts stores. The problem isn’t always visible right away, but a lot of these pads glaze up too fast, especially if the composition isn’t right for the vehicle or the driving conditions.
Some of the cheaper pads might stop okay on the first test drive, but after a few days, you start getting squeaks, pedal fade, or uneven bite. That’s usually from overheating or poor-quality resins in the pad material.
There are many different compositions of brake pads — ceramic, semi-metallic, organic, etc. — and not all are created equal. A bad batch or cheap mix can glaze over on the first few hard stops, especially on vehicles with a lot of weight.
That’s why I recommend trusted brands and I personally avoid bottom-tier stuff. I don’t cut corners when it comes to brakes, because I don’t want to come back out to re-do them or explain why they squeal two days later.
Just something to keep in mind when choosing parts. Cheap upfront sometimes costs more in the end.
Use Your Parking Brake — Even in an Automatic
There’s still folks out there — usually older boomers — who think the parking brake doesn’t matter in an automatic. Let me tell you, it absolutely does.
Back in the day, plenty of older automatics had a reputation for occasionally slipping out of gear. Loose shift linkages, worn detents — whatever the cause, cars would roll away. If you’ve been around long enough, you’ve seen it happen. So even on level ground, using the parking brake is cheap insurance.
But that’s not the only reason:
✅ It takes the stress off your transmission
When you park and walk away without using the brake, all the weight of the car rests on a little metal piece inside the trans called the parking pawl. That thing wasn’t designed to hold 3,000+ lbs on a slope. The parking brake handles that load so your transmission doesn’t have to.
✅ It keeps your rear brakes adjusted — especially on disc brake systems
Here’s something most people overlook: if your car has rear disc brakes, many of those setups rely on the parking brake mechanism to activate the self-adjusters. If you don’t use it, the adjusters don’t do their job, and your rear brakes can go out of spec. That affects stopping power and braking balance.
Even in newer vehicles with electronic parking brakes, this principle still applies. Those systems apply the parking brake every time you shut the car off, whether you realize it or not — and that keeps things adjusted by default.
So no, using your parking brake isn’t just for manuals (which hardly exist anymore). It’s still good practice in every automatic, especially older ones and especially if you’ve got rear disc brakes.
Don’t let laziness wreck your transmission or your braking system.
Use the damn brake.
